Discover Our Poetic Soul
At 'A Woman's Tears', we are dedicated to curating a collection of poems that resonate with the struggles of everyday life. From childhood to maturity, we embrace all the emotions that touch one's life! Each poem is a piece of art crafted to evoke feelings, tell stories, and create connections with our readers.
Poems by JC Gilliam
Love's Rosy Thorn
Tear drops fall, most every night
I can see them in your eyes
Heartache bruises, your very soul
Staring into starlit skies
Wondering when, life will begin
Standing silent against the wind
Yearning to feel, another's touch
Loneliness is no ones friend
Hope is hard, to keep lit
When the gales of fate blow in
Worlds apart, I dream of you
Inhibition my only sin
Images float, across my mind
A place where palm trees sway
Lounging there, beneath the sun
As we while away the day
Silly notions, our lives are filled
Emotion carries with it a curse
Longing for, what never can be
The poet weeps throughout his verse
Looking out, my solitary window
A glimpse into my world of forlorn
Your beauty so distant, dreamily I see
Hearts broken on love's rosy thorn
Angels Among Us
Sitting on this old park bench
Waiting for the man to come
Move along buddy, can't sit here
It's a hard life being a bum
I try and comply, it's all I can do
Shamble on under watchful eyes
Head duly lowered, eyes cast down
My way of flying the friendly skies
Make my way to a favorite eating place
Me and Bootsy, my furry companion
Rooting through some old garbage cans
Well Fido, how you feel about Italian
Sitting in peace, enjoying our meal
Not a care, comes to wrinkle my brow
Wash it all down with a fine red wine
Greeting strangers with an affable ciao
Walking along the warm summer street
Sidewalks come alive, with excitement
People walk by, not giving a thought
Feeling normal again for a moment
Shop owner calls out, you gotta go
Man, I ain't bothering anybody
If you don't move, I call the cops
Look at you, dressed so shoddy
Leave him alone, he's just an old man
Finally someone with a friendly face
Here you go Pops, giving me a dollar
Perhaps you should find another place
Plenty of good folk here, walking about
What did I tell you Azrael, as I shuffle on
We can't go around killing the devout
Mankind blessed with another dawn
A Day in the Life
Hobble around this old routine
Upon these worn out legs
Put myself, early to bed
Why, the question begs
Fast asleep, but then awake
The Melatonin, it never lasts
Lying here, thinking of you
Hoping these feelings pass
Shadows play, through the night
I know not where to start
Memories roll, but cannot fill
This hole, torn in my heart
Minutes creep, an invalid's pace
I reach out, touch her pillow
Treading water, to keep afloat
My vessel not made to solo
Hours til, night brings the day
One old leg, my only friend
Artificial, lying next to me
Nothing seems real, oh where to begin
Rise with the morn, bathe in a sink
Empty fluid, from the nightly jug
Pull these tired shorts, up over a cast
Tee shirt and a morning mug
Limp to the car, nod to my sis
As she sleepily leads the way
Trying to get past, the missing
I roll into the start of a new day
